We had a party for the kids on Friday.

What’s a good party without stuffing cookies in your mouth and, of course, showing everyone.

Clearly, I’m a good influence.

Today was our last day at Hope House.

It was good. But sad.

Nkosi was so sweet today. Sigh.

Busisiwe ::

October 25, 2008

When I walked into Hope House yesterday I was greeted by Lindo, he kept saying, “baby, baby”. He took my hand and led me back to the babies room. We found 9 day old Busisiwe sleeping in her little bed. She had arrived at the orphanage that morning.

I don’t know if I’ve ever held a baby that small…aww, baby Busi. so cute!

This progression of pictures cracks me up! There’s nothing like a good water balloon toss…

4 weeks…. ::

October 17, 2008

In some ways this feels like a long year, but in other ways it feels like it’s gone so fast!

After today we’ll only go to Hope House four more times this year. It’s always funny when you start something, you feel like it’ll will always be a part of their lives.

One of the girls from last year knitted hats for the kids at Hope House (the orphanage we go to on Fridays). Friday was nice so it was a little strange to give them stocking hats, but this weekend it was freezing! The kids loved their hats and I’m sure they came in really handy this weekend.

Yesterday was a good day. We painted hope house during the day…

and had a costume party to celebrate Marc’s half-birthday at night.

we didn’t get a picture of everyone. shame. but here are 10 of us. [i was a substitute teacher. a costume i blatantly stole from amy--she was one last year for halloween. i intended to be pippi longstocking, but forgot about trying to find a metal hanger for my hair until the last minute.] click here for more pics.

*check out Jody’s hair (in the pink), she was Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch. Nice, huh?!

I posted pictures from the last couple of weeks. Click here if you want to take a look.

We’re painting a base coat in the hallways and bedrooms at Hope House tomorrow. I’m excited. When we’re done the plan is to have the kids pick themes for their rooms and we’ll paint accordingly. 16 Outreach Staffers arrived this week to help with the busy Outreach Season. They’re coming along to keep the kids busy outside while we’re painting. I’m excited to for them to meet the kids! I have a feeling they are going fall in love with them just like we have.
